Evelyn A. “Effie” Borosky, of Simpson died Sunday morning at Marian Community hospital, Carbondale.
Born on May 16, 1937; in Richmondale, and resided all of her life in Simpson. She was the daughter of the late Leo & Mary Reposh Borosky.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Church, Simpson and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and Guild. She was also a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, which she served as mentor until her illness. Evelyn’s first love was her church, she and members of the Sodality decorated the church for Holy Days.
She was a committeewoman for Cub Scout Pack #17 and Boy Scout Troop #312, of Simpson where she served as treasurer for many years.
Before retirement, she was employed by the Banner Shoe Co., Honesdale and later by the E. J. Shoe Co. of Forest City until its closing.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Forest City Nursing Home and Marian Community Hospital for their care and compassion shown to Evelyn during her illness.
Her caregivers were her sister: Marie Graytock and her niece: Toni Graytock.
She is survived by two brothers and their wives: Leo and Margaret, Gautier, Miss; Melvin and Judith, Crystal Lake Forest; two sisters: Marie Graytock, Simpson; and Geraldine and her husband John F. Maher, Jr; Somers, CT.; nine nieces, seven nephews, twelve great nieces and seven great nephews, an uncle Andrew Reposh and his wife Mary, Jessup and an aunt Erma Repash, Forest City.
She was preceded in death by a brother-in –law: Andrew M. Graytock, Sr. and a niece
Monica Borosky.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc 621 Main St, Simpson with Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St, Simpson to be celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Sitko, Pastor. Interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marian Community Hospital or St. Michael’s Church. Those attending the funeral are asked to proceed directly to church on Wednesday.
